Roberts, who was born in Okinawa, Japan in 1972 and earned the nickname "Doc," is a former outfielder who has been the Dodgers' manager since 2016. Under his leadership, the team has won five National League West division titles, two National League pennants, and one World Series championship.

The Dodgers' decision to extend Roberts' contract comes after a successful 2023 season in which the team won 111 games, the most in the National League. Roberts has a career managerial record of 743-528 with the Dodgers, a .584 winning percentage.
