## Sean Marks Named New Director of Education for HDSB The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is proud to announce the appointment of Sean Marks as its new Director of Education, effective August 1, 2023. Mr. Marks brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the HDSB, having served as the Director of Education for the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) since 2018. Prior to that, he held various leadership positions within the York Region District School Board (YRDSB), including Superintendent of Education and Director of Student Success. "We are thrilled to welcome Sean Marks to the HDSB community," said HDSB Chair Dawn Danko. "His proven track record of success in educational leadership, coupled with his passion for student achievement and well-being, make him an ideal choice to lead our school board." As Director of Education, Mr. Marks will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the HDSB, which serves over 69,000 students in Milton, Oakville, Burlington, and Halton Hills. He will work closely with the Board of Trustees, senior staff, and the broader school community to ensure that all students have access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success in the 21st century. "I am honored and excited to join the HDSB team," said Mr. Marks. "I am committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to build on the board's strong foundation and to deliver exceptional educational experiences for all students." Mr. Marks holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo. He is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers and the Ontario Public Supervisory Officers' Association. The HDSB is confident that under Mr. Marks' leadership, the school board will continue to be a leader in public education in Ontario.
